Confession Talk for preachers
1) Jeremiah 2:2 [says] “Thus says the Lord: I remember the devotion of your youth , your love as a bride , how you followed me in the wilderness , in a land not sown.”
2) Jeremiah 2:3 [says] “ Israel was holy to the Lord, the first fruits of his harvest.” NB: You are the Israel .
3) Isaiah 49:6 [says] “He (Lord) says, “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the survivors of Israel; I will give you as a light to the nations , that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth .”
4) So Ephesians 5:15 [says] “Be careful then how you live , not as unwise people but a wise .” NB: Let us see how should be our tongue, eyes and other organs ! 5) James 3:1-2 [says] (tongue) “For you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness . For all of us make many mistakes. Anyone who makes no mistakes in speaking is perfect , able to keep the whole body in check with a bridle.” a) Sirach 5:14 [says] “Do not be called double – tongued and do not lay traps with your tongue .” b) James 4:11 [says] “Do not speak evil against one another, brothers and sisters.” c) Sirach 19:6 [says] “One who hates gossip (speaking ill of others) has less evil.” d) James 1:26 [says] “If any think they are religious , and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless .” 6) Matthew 6:22 [says] (eyes) “The eye is the lamp of the body . So, if your eye is healthy , your whole body is full of light ; but if your eye is unhealthy , your whole body will be full of darkness .” a) Matthew 7:13-14 [say] “ Enter through the narrow gate ; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction , and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” 7) Sirach 6:2 [says] (passion) “Do not fall into the grip of passion , or you may be torn apart as by a bull.” a) Matthew 5:28 [says] “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” 8) James 1:20 [says] (anger) “For your ange r does not produce God's righteousness.” 9) Galatians 6:3 [says] (pride) “If those who were nothing think they are something , they deceive themselves.” a) Luke 1:51-52 [say] “He has shown strength with his arms; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly .” b) Psalms 31:23 [says] “The Lord preserves the faithful , but abundantly repays the one who acts haughtily .” 10) Sirach 28:1 [says] (vengeance) “The vengeful will face the Lord's vengeance , for he keeps a strict account of their sins .” 11) Revelation 3:1-2 “I know your works; you have a name of being alive, but you are dead . Wake up , and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God.” 12) Psalms 32:3-5 “ While I kept silence , my body wasted away through my groaning all day long . For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” and you forgave the guilt of my sin.”
