Be fruitful to the Lord

1) Matthew 21:33-41 [A parable]

a) Jesus told this parable to the chief priests and Pharisees:

b) There was a land owner who planted a vine yard , put a fence around it, dug a vine press in it and built a watch tower.

c) Then he leased it to tenants and went to another country.

d) At the harvest time he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his produce.

e) But his tenants seized his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.

f) Again he sent other slaves more than the first but they treated them in the same way.

g) At last he sent his son to them. But they seized him, threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

h) Jesus asked them, “What will he do to those tenants”?

2) NB: We read their answer in Matthew 21:41.

Let us read Matthew 21:41

“They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death , and lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the harvest time.”

NB: In the same context …….

In Mark 12:9 [Jesus himself says]

“What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the tenants and give the vineyard to others.”

NB1: This parable is regarding the character of chief priests and Pharisees.

NB2: But it is applicable to the people of present world.

i) The world is the vineyard of the God the Father.

ii) The people of the world are tenants.

iii) The people of the world should be fruitful to the lord.

iv) But they are agitating against the Lord and neglecting him.

v) They kill the servants of God and live in a sinful way as they wish.

vi) What will the Lord do against the people of the world?

vii) He will destroy those wicked people and hand over the world to the righteous people.

viii) That is why many kinds of natural calamities are in the world.

3) Matthew 23:9 [says]

“And call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father - the one in heaven .”

3a) Wisdom of Solomon 1:2 [says]

“Because he is found by those who do not put him to the test , and manifests himself to those who do not distrust him.”

NB: The world should find out the Lord and follow him in the way he prescribes.

4) Wisdom of Solomon 1:7 [says]

“Because the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and that which holds all things together knows what is said ,”

NB: He knows even your thoughts.

5) Wisdom of Solomon 1:6 [says]

“For wisdom is a kindly spirit, but will not free blasphemers from the guilt of their words ; because God is witness of their inmost feelings , and a true observer of their hearts, and a hearer of their tongues .”

6) Wisdom of Solomon 1:9 [says]

“For inquiry will be made into the counsels (talks) of the ungodly, and a report of their words will come to the Lord, to convict them of their lawless deeds ;”

NB: Do not blame God for punishing.

7) Wisdom of Solomon 1:16 [says]

“But the ungodly by their words and deeds summoned death .”

8) Wisdom of Solomon 1:13 [says]

“Because God did not make death , and he does not delight in the death of the living.”

9) James 4:7-10 [says]

“ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil , and he will flee from you. Draw near to God , and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts , you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep . Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into dejection. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you .”
