Live in God
1) In 1 Samuel chapter 17 a) We see a shepherd boy . During the time of keeping the sheep , surprisingly, whenever a lion or bear tries to attack the sheep the shepherd boy fought against them, stroke them down and killed them. He was a mighty boy. b) This boy came before the king Saul and asked him permission to fight with Goliath. Goliath was a mighty warrior of philistines whose height was 6 cubits (meters) and a span. But the king refused to grant permission saying that he was a small boy so that he was not able to fight against this philistine. c) But the shepherd boy told the king that he was able to fight against even lion and bear. And he revealed the secret of his strength. Let us read 1samuel 17:37 David said, “The Lord , who saved me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, will save me from the hand of this philistine.” NB: He hopefully said this because he knew that the Lord was always with him to save from those wild animals and so he said that the Lord would be with him to save from Goliath . Yes, the Lord was his strength he was always with him to strengthen him. At last he defeated Goliath and killed him 2) NB: Let us see the incidence from which the Lord was with him. Let us read 1samuel 16:13 “Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the presence of his brothers; and the spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from the day forward. NB1: we see that the person who is anointed becomes mighty . 3) NB2: What does the anointed person David do? Sirach 47:8 [ says] “In all that he (David) did, he gave thanks to the Holy one, the Most High, proclaiming his glory ; he sang praises with all his heart, and he loved his maker. NB1: We know that most of the psalms are sung by David. Even though he was a king, he found time to sing praises to God. NB2: Do we find time to sing the praise of the Lord? NB2: Do we find time to read bible? NB3: Do we find time to meditate the love of God and seek him? NB4 How many of us find out him and getting union with him and enjoy the state of bliss? NB5: In those days David rejoiced in the Lord and was dancing before the lord with his full strength. 4) 2 Samuel 6:14 [ says] “David danced before the Lord with all his might ; David was girded with a linen ephod.” NB1: David used all his talents and might to glorify the Lord. NB2: Wha t was the benefit of doing those things for David? 5) In Revelation 22:16 [Jesus says] “ I am the root and the descendant of David , the bright morning star.” NB: Even the Creator becomes the descendant of David. Such a great blessing David is enjoying. 6) NB: Let us read the promises and blessings given by God to David in 1Chronicles 17:12 -14 Let us read 1 Chronicles 17:12-14: “He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever . I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me . I will not take my steadfast love was before you, but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.” 7) NB: On hearing this, see, how much happy David was! 1 Chronicles 17:16-18 [ says] “Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and said, “ Who am I , O Lord God, and what is my house , that you have brought me thus far ? And even this was a small thing in your sight, O God; you have also spoken of your servant's house for a great while to come. You regard me as someone of high rank , O Lord God! And what more can David say to you for honoring your servant? You know your servant.” NB: if we are like David, sure, he will raise us in glory.
