The mighty Lord

1) It was the time when Israel was under the slavery of Pharaoh.

a) Our Lord sends Moses and Aaron to deliver the Israelites from Pharaoh.

b) In Exodus 5:1 [ we see that they went to Pharaoh and said]

“Thus says the lord, the God of Israel, ‘Let my people go , so that they may celebrate a festival to me in the wilderness .”

c) In Exodus 5:2 [Pharaoh replied]

“Who is the Lord, that I should heed him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go .”

NB1: we know the result of his arrogant reply.

NB2: The Lord divided the Red Sea and the Israelites crossed the Sea walking on the dry ground.

NB3: But Pharaoh with all his army, chariots, chariot drivers, and horses sank in to the Red Sea .

2) Let us read Exodus 14:27-28 & 30-31

“So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at dawn the sea returned to its normal depth. As the Egyptians fled before it, the Lord tossed the Egyptians into the sea . The waters returned and covered the chariots and the chariot drivers, the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea; not one of them remained.”

“Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Israel saw the great work that the Lord did against the Egyptians. So the people feared the Lord and believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.”

3) Exodus 15:6-7 [say]

“Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power- your right hand , O Lord, shattered the enemy. In the greatness of your majesty you overthrew your adversaries; you sent out your fury, it consumed them like stubble.”

NB: See, even the great king Pharaoh who was arrogant against the Lord was over thrown by the Mighty Lord.

4) Exodus 15:18 [says]

“The Lord will reign forever and ever.”

NB: See, even the great king Pharaoh was shrank in front of our Lord. Our lord is mightiest Lord.

4a) Isaiah 45:24 [says]

“All who were incensed (angry) against him shall come to him and be ashamed .”

4b) Psalm 11:6 [says]

“ On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulfur; a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.”

5) Psalm 11:7 [says]

“For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face .”

NB1: But the arrogant Pharaoh who protested against the Lord was punished .

NB2: But the righteous behold his face as they are his own children. He will not forsake the poor .

6) Psalm 12:5 [says]

““Because the poor are despoiled (robbed), because the needy groan , I will now rise up ,” says the Lord; “I will place them in the safety for which they long .””

NB1: In those days the Lord heard the groaning of the poor Israelites and came down to deliver them from the mighty hands of Pharaoh.

NB2: The Lord comes down to deliver us too from the various problems and sufferings.

7) In Isaiah 43:1-2 [The Lord says]

“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you ; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters , I will be with you; and through the rivers , they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned , and the flame shall not consume you.”

8) Psalm 125:2 [says]

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem , so the Lord surrounds his people , from this time on and forevermore.”

9) Psalm121:1-2 [says]

“ My help comes from the Lord , who made heaven and earth.”

10) Psalm 121:4 [says]

“He who keeps (protects) Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”

So…….

11) As it is said in Sirach 39:15

“ Ascribe majesty to his name and give thanks to him with praise, with songs on your lips , and with harps”
